computer works. Characters and images shown on computer
monitors have been gradually replacing traditional paper works.
An obvious fact is that the lighting design focused
on Horizontal Illumination and ignored Vertical Illumination
in the past, and that is not able to meet the future needs of
increasing computer works.The special problem is that
reflected glare on VDT not only interrupts computer
works but also influences work efficiency. This research
is for the purpose of a high standard lighting environment to
decrease ratio of working mistake,and to enhance both comfort
and productivity. The focus of this research is to
investigate how office works is interrupted by reflected
glare on VDT in Taiwan. On the basis of the investigation a
strategy to improve the lighting situation is proposed.The
content of the research is as follows: 1.Reference research
Some references have been reviewed in this section in order
to illustrate the definition of VDT on computer monitors,
the influence of lighting environment on computer
monitors, the lighting requirements of office computer works,
and how lighting should be designed and fixture chosen.
2.Investigations and analysis of current offices computer
works Through the analysis of questionnaire to computer
operators as well as the measurement of offices using
computers, the current situation of office lighting,VDT of
computer monitors , and the causes of VDT can be realized.
3.Strategies to prevent reflected glare on VDT According to the
investigation of current office lighting situation, and
optimum lighting situation for computer works and a strategy
to prevent reflected glare of VDT are proposed in this
section. The results from the research above are finally
synthesized as a conclusion and an overall suggestion.
