He inherited the skills of calligraphy from the Ch''ing (晉), T''ang (唐), Sung (宋), Ming (明) and early Ch''ing (清) Dynasty. He was born in the times when the calligraphy style was changing, however, he still insisted on the style of T''ung Ch''i-chang (董其昌). His skills were mature and reserved. This thesis researches into Liang''s age, family and background of culture, and his skills and theory of calligraphy ensued from the factors mentioned above. The main point discussed in this thesis is the result obtained from the interplay of skills and theory. Besides, this thesis also takes notice of the reasons why Liang T''ung- shu, an important calligrapher so famous at his time and long- lived, had nearly no influence on the calligraphy in the later age.
