Results of this study are delineated as following: 1.The manufacturing wastewater of disperse dye industries is inh- ibitive type of water,therefore, the COD concentration of influ- ent should be diluted to a level of no more than 700 mg/L to p- revent the inhibition of microorganism. According to there sul- ts of a contineous activated sludge system test, when the F/M ratios were lower than 0.4kg-T.COD/kg-MLVSS-day,the batter eff- ects were oftained. 2.The biokinetic constants of activated sludge systems for treat- ing manufacturing wastewater from the disperse dye industries are asfollowing (S.BOD basis): k=0.008191/day,k'=2.6631/day,Yt= 0.450mg-MLVSS/mg-S.BOD removal, Kd=0.00687 1/day,a'=0.628mg-O2/ mg-S.BOD removal,b'=0.0387mg-O2/ mg-MLVSS-day. According to the constants listed obove,the biokinetic constants of wastewater from dye industries are lower than those of general industries, that is,it is difficult to be biodegraded. 3.The biokinetic constants of PACT systems for treating manufact- uring wastewater from the disperse dye industries are as follo- wing (PAC dosage=1500mg/L S.BOD basis): k=0.0139 1/day,k'=5.534 1/day, Yt=0.185 mg-MLVSS/mg-S.BOD removal,Kd=0.0325 1/day, a'=0 .249 mg-O2/mg-S.BOD removal, b'=0.0613 mg-O2/mg-MLVSS-day. The k and k' values of PACT are higher than those of activated sludge systems,that is,PACT can adsorb the non-biodegradable and toxis substances in the wastewater to increase reaction rates.
