in Taiwain,Japan,China,andthe Phillippines .The root of this
plant has been used as afolk medicine in the treatment of
colds, gout and tussis in Taiwan. Compounds, (A)-(N), were
isolated from the methanol extracts of the root of this plant.
The structure of these compounds were identified by the
spectrometric and chemical methods. compounds: (1) aliphaatic
alcohols(A) (2) aliphatic acids(B) (3) steroids:stigmast-4-en-3-
one and stigmasta-4-en-3-one mixtures(C),β-sitosterol and
stigmasterol mixyures(D) (4) steroidal glycoside:β-sitosterol-
β-D-glucoside and stigmasterol-β-D-glucoside mixtures(L) (5)
coumarin: peucedanol(M) (6) four furanocoumarins:
isoimperatorin(E),imperatorin(F), psoralen (G),bergapten(H) (7)
three pyranocoumarins: (+)-trans-4'-acetyl-3'-
tigloylkhellactone(J),(-)-trans-4'-acetyl-3'-
senecioylkhellactone(J-a), (+)-cis-4'-acetyl-3'-angeloyl
khellactone(K) (8) chromone: eugenin(I) (9) sugar alcohol:
D-(-)-mannitol(N) And compound(E) showed strong antagonistic
effects(at 10μg/ml) of the platelet activating factor(AA) in
platelet aggregation induced by several aggregating agents.
