Description
Summary:碩士 === 文化大學 === 國際企業管理研究所 === 82 === The "Backward Intergation" model of Taiwan petrochemial industrial development is quite different to the "Foreward Integration" of the western and oil producing countries. Petrochemicals have their positions in making great contributions to the new era of Taiwan econmmics. However, due to the reasons of product dumping from outside as well as the strong competition at international market recently aware us to investigate the titled thesis. From the literture review, data shown that the Taiwan petrochemicals sales record went down gradually since 1980. Until now, the upstream and intermediate products are in import status where the downstream product is in export status. During the same period, Japan produce plenty of petrochemicals to be exported to Taiwan. Although two countries are intimately cooperate at market sharing manner, Japan play an important role in leading the petrochemical industry. The successful route that Japanese made reminded me to understand the factors of winning the market. This investigation apply the paper answer methodology to all expertise in petrochemical field by setting up the seven compete factors for response. These factors are raw-material, technology, capital cost, manufacturing, man-power, market and government policy. Analysis are made through the software of SAS program with the methods of frequency, x2distribution and mean theory to the seven factors. Then order them with their strength of competition and find out the sensitivity of each factor to the upstream, intermediate and downstream producers. The conclusions of this research indicates that: .Both upstream and intermediate petrochemical producers are much more depend on the level of technology than the rest of factors. .For down-stream producers, manufacturing is the most factor. .Petrochemicals industry is proven to be the modernize industry with high technology intensive but rawmaterial extensive properties. .Therefore, on behalf of Taiwan petrochemicals, the international cooperation is the best way to satisfy the technical requirement on our side and to share the market benefit on both sides.
