multimedia document usually composites of various types of
information such as text, graphic, image, audio and video. A
traditional text file can be shown on the monitor, or print out
to papers. But a multimedia document which contains continuous
media (like audio or video) needs an environment to make a
presentation. Because there are temporal relationships that
existed among the media streams, in addition to handle the
spatial layout of the document, this environment must consider
the time constraints between different media, deal with the
presentation attributes, and take care of the run-time user
interactive. In this paper, we proposed an architecture of a
presentation environment for multimedia document. This
environment includes a temporal layout mechanism to manage the
temporal relationships. We also design a timeline editor, which
provides an graphical user interface (GUI), let user can easily
create a multimedia document.
