The fecal samples were collected from sows, boars, suckling, weaned and fattenning pigs, respectively. Serum samples from sows were also titrated for antibodies to rotavirus by Enzyme - Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Type - specific primers were used to serotype OSU and Gottfried strains of group A rotavirus. In this experiment, a total of 1532 fecal samples were examined by RT/PCR: 598 samples(39%) were positive. Among 598 positive samples, 581 were type 5 (OSU); 5 were type 4 (Gottfried); 2 samples had mixed infection with OSU and Gottfried strain. However, 14 samples could not be typed. The situation of rotavirus infection at 3 farms was fairly similar. The percentages of positive rate found in pig farms located in Northern, Middle and Southern parts of Taiwan were 37.8%, 41.9% and 37.2% , respectively. Results of rotavirus infection in different stages of pigs showed that the weaned pigs had the highest rate(65.5%), followed by boars(48.6%) and suckling piglets(47.8%). Sows had the lowest rate of infection(22.8%). A total of 153 serum samples of sows were all positive for antibody against rotavirus. The ELISA antibody titers ranged from 1:16 to 1:4096. The sensitivities of RT/PCR and EM to detect rotavirus in fecal samples was compared and discussed. Lai, Shiow-suey 賴秀穗 1994 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW |
