Revision and a preliminary cladistic analysis of the subfamily Psephenoidinae Bollow (Coleoptera: Psephenidae sensu lato)

碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 植物病蟲害學系 === 82 === The subfamily Psephenoidinae Bollow and its subtaxa were revised. A new genus Pseudopsephenoides in this subfamily was established although its immature stages are still unknown. Nineteen species belonging to three genera, Afropsephenoides Basilewsky, Psephenoides Gahan, and the new genus Pseudopsephenoides, were examined. Fourteen of them were described as new species. Two new subgenera, Neopsephenoides and Eupsephenoides were erected for genera Psephenoides and Afropsephenoides respectively. Based on the morphological characters of adult, keys to subfamilies, genera, subgenera, and species were constructed. The taxonomic characters for higher taxa of this subfamily were evaluated and discussed. The phylogenetic relationship of this subfamily was reconstructed by a cladistic analysis. The preliminary result revealed that both genera Afropsephenoides and Psephenoides are monophyletic group. Monophyly of the genus Afropsephenoides is less robustly supported as in Psephenoides, and the relationships between the subgenera of Afropsephenoides also showed somewhat ambiguous. The zoogeography of this subfamily was also discussed. The exact ancestral area of the Psephenoidinae was still not clear. But most lineages of the subfamily might have originated in the Himalaya or Indo-China and then spread throughout the whole Oriental area.
