We implement the above device structure by the TI- MILO and the NI- MILO waveguides, discuss their experimental results and propose the NI-MILO waveguide structure as tunable optical polarization splitter. Moreover, an efficient numerical method associated with the normal-mode theory and the beam propagation method which is better than only using the beam propagation method is presented.
