This channel model is valide when the spacial recording interval is larger than a specified transition parameter of magnetic medium. At linear recording region, the magnetic channel is characterized by its non- causaul transition response. This property makes the recording channel work as a partial response channel, so the major problem that we are considering becomes that a synchronizer scheme on partial response signaling. It is found that the convexity property of likelihood function plays an important role on the performance of RMLE in partial response signaling situation. This way the design consideration of RMLE synchronizer will be the tradoff on the timing stability and tracking capability because of non-ideal convexity proerty.
