Generally speaking, aromatic polyamides have higher modulus and thermal resistance. In the article, the rigid-rod polymer is PBTA(poly-p-(2,2- dimethylbiphenyl)terephthalamide), and the amouphous PI22 as matrix. Block copolymers consisting of liquid crystal system or phenyl-substituted system have been synthesized. The characteristics of polyamide and polyimide will be combined for developing a new performance material. In the study, IR. H1- NMR. and a combination of GPC.IV (inherent viscosity) and TGA have applied to analyze the tructure, components and physical properties of block copolymer We also synthesized a phenyl- substituted polyamide, which is soluble in most of organic solvent without salt(LiCl..). Incorporating copolymers, improve the solubility of block copolymer, and reduce the cost and time of processibility. Finally, we also try to cast film and draw fiber by wet spinning.
