Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 82 === In Mandarin, r-suffixation and particle a-suffixation have
been controversial topics for a long time. Both of them vary
with the preceding stems. Previous analyses based on Linear
Phonology or Non-linear Phonology are not satisfying enough
to account for their variety except stipulating as many
specific phonological rules as possible. The aim of the thesis
is focused on explaining these facts under the model of
Lexical Phonology. In this framework, the word-based morphology
of Mandarin establishes a relationship of an interesting sort
between the morphological structure and phonological
structure. Supposing [r] is a level 1 suffix and [a] is a level
2 suffix, they get a full explanation on the basis of the
canonical template CVX interacting with phonological rules and
principles like Oligatory Contour Principle and Structure
Preservation.
