Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 82 === A Service Control Point (SCP) is the "Heart" of Intelligent Network (IN), it acts as a database within a computer network, and performs IN service call processing function. The main difference between them is that the SCP service call handling is time sensitive, and it uses the Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) protocol service that provides reliable transaction associations between SCPs and Service Switching Points (SSPs). Performance is an important factor that affects the quality of IN service. The estimation of the SCP performance and the detail system design requirements are the most important problem to solved. Message Generator and Traffic Simulator (MGTS) is often used in the Intelligent Network to measure the system performance, the essential feature of MGTS on performance evaluation is to measure the response time of a signaling point (SP) under various message traffic rate, quite limited information can be obtained from the measurement. In this thesis, we propose a generic queuing model, which uses simulation technique to simulate and observe the behavior of SCP call processing function under various traffic conditions. Some important factors, that have to be considered in designning a reliable and a predicatable SCP system, may be obtained from the analysis of simulation results. This method will reduce the time spent for performance evaluation, and obtain more information related to the requirements of SCP system detail design.
