In the method, a pyramid-based smoothing operation is introduced to reduce the resolution and enhance the homogeneity of the ultrasound images. Then the matched filter segmentation technique was emlopyed to identify the contour of the prostate. For images of poor quality, the contours of the prostate are predicted from the contours which have been obtained. After obtaining a series of 2D contours, we use the Hermit surface approach to interpolate the spatial data to reconstruct 3D object's surface. Finally, the diffuse reflection and Grourand shading is used to create the depth effect of 3D images of the prostate. 3D spatial structure information of the prostate is very contributive to physicians in the clinical diagnosis or surgical applications. 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 82 === In this thesis, a 3-dimension reconstruction method is
developed to produce the 3D shading image of the prostate from
a series of 2-dimensional transrectal ultrasound images. In the

reduce the resolution and enhance the homogeneity of the
ultrasound images. Then the matched filter segmentation
technique was emlopyed to identify the contour of the prostate.

shading is used to create the depth effect of 3D images of the
prostate. 3D spatial structure information of the prostate is
