Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 化學工程研究所 === 82 === Epoxy resins are one of the most important thermosetting polymers and have wide use as structural adhesives and matrix resins for fiber composites, but their cured resins have one drawback; they are brittle and have poor resistance to crack propagation. Then it limits their usage. The toughness of epoxy resins has been increased by blending with rubber polymer, and it is an interesting direction of research till now. In this work, we applied the reactions of emulsion polymerization by multi-staged, semi-batch method to synthesize the composite polymer particles with the poly(n-butyl acrylate) [poly(n-BA)] being the major part of rubber. We used two formulations to synthesis the seeds of latex particles with different microphase compositions, and introduce different ratio of poly( methyl methacrylate)/poly(glycidyl methacrylate) [PMMA/ PGMA] to cover on the seed latex particles. It forms the structure of core-shell type composite polymer particles. Owing to the epoxy group attached to GMA, the shell side of the synthesized composite particles can produce nice chemical bonding between the epoxy matrix.(the following is omitted)
