The Scholastic Aptitude Test for Primary School Student(SAT), The Achievement Test for Fifth Grade Student( Chinese and Mathematics), The Learning Behavior Checklist, The New Jong-Hwa Intelligence Scale and The Stanford -Binet Intelligence Scale: Fifth Edition(in Taiwan) were administered to obtain relative information. The data obtained were analyzed by the Pearson product-moment correlation, principal component analysis, t-test, the discriminant analysis , ANOVA, and MANOVA. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1.The prevalence of learning disabilities is 3.15%(3.73% male, 2.52% female). 2.The method of constructing LDI could be used in the two individual intelligence scales, and costructed two pieces of LDI norm tables. The mean LDI is significat difference among LD, UA and normal group, and no significant difference between boy and girl LD. 3.Students of LD group showed significantly lower than students of UA and normal group in verbal ability, but no significant difference in nonverbal ability. For LD group, nonverbal ability is significantly higher than verbal ability, and showed greater intra-individual differences on scores of all subtests of both individual intelligence scales. 4.The various intelligence variables of both intelligence scales could distinguish the LD and normal group effectively. 5.Pearson correlation coeficients showed a higher correspondence between The New Jong-Hwa Intelligence Scale Full- Scale IQ and The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale Composite score (r=.861) , and the later(M=91.04) higher the former( M=88.52), but no significant difference.
