Plasma malondialdehyde (MDA), both plasma and erythrocyte trace elements, activity of erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (6PX), and catalase (CAT) were examined before and after hemodialysis. An increased level of plasma copper (Cu), aluminum (Al), MDA, erythrocyte zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), lead (Pb), Cu, and a significantly decreased plasma selenium (Se), Zn, GPX and erythrocyte Se, SOD, GPX, CAT in the before hemodialysis was found when compared to the control subjects. After hemodialysis, erythrocyte Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb,and plasma Cu,Al, MDA were significantly increased, but plasma Zn, Se, GPX, and erythrocyte Se, GPX, CAT were lower in CRF patients than those of the healthy subjects. Erythrocyte GPX, Zn, Pb, and plasma Cu, Zn, Al were significantly higher in after hemodialysis when compared to before hemodialysis. In conclusion: 1.There is an indirect evidence for increased oxidizing stress in uremic patients with hemodialysis. 2.An increased susceptibility of lipid peroxidation in hemodialyzed patients was found. 3.Abnormalities of trace elements were found in hemodialyzed patients. 4.Lead may promote lipid peroxidatoin. 5.Dialysis treatment may improve some abnormalities, (eg:Hb,P) but induced others mentioned above. 林德賢 1994 學位論文 ; thesis 109 zh-TW
