Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 土木及水利工程研究所 === 82 === In general, we use tradtional consolidation ring at the labortary to analyze soil settlements of foundation. But, the Terzaghi's one-dimensional consolidation theory must maintain one-dimensional draining and consolidation settlements. The diameter, thickness and the ratio of diameter to thickness must be limited. And the lateral deformations occurring during the consolidation test was not allowed. Therefore, the test results could not satisfy the one-dimensional theory. there have no papers mention about the lateral deformations and influnces causing by the traditional consolidation test. We took a view of the framework of the traditional consolidation aparatus first. After that, we calculated the lateral deformations and analyzed the excess pore water pressure of the test specimen. In wiew of the abov , a true Ko consolidation aparatus is proposed in this research. To demonstrate the differences of the test results of a true Ko consolidation test from a tradition one, six difference clayed soils were selected in this research. The empirical equations of compression index (Cc) an recompression index (Cr) deduced from the true Ko test results have wide difference from Terzaghi and Peck's. The compression index and recompression index of the tru Ko test are smaller than the traditional's. The maximum differences between them are 56.7% and 64.9%. Usually, the maximum past vertical effective stresses of the true Ko test are greater than the tradition's. And the coefficient of consolidation (Cv) is generally subjected to change irregularly with the change of the effective consolidation pressure. Thus, the obtained results from this research is not sufficient to give a certain conclusion for the influence of lateral deformation on the coefficient of consolidation.
