The purpose of the present study was to investigate effects of PCT on endurance, locomoter activity, passive avoidance and the mechanism of action of PCT on the central nervous system. Moreover, we compared the effect of different proceeding products of PCT on the hexobarbital-induced sleeping time in mice. PCT prolonged the duration of sleeping time induced by hexobarbital, and also produced a significant decrease in locomoter activity. It not only reduced the hypermotility induced by apomorphine and PCPA but also potentiated the hypomotility induced by α -MT, haloperidol and 5-HTP. However, PCT shortened the sleeping time and increased the locomotor activity after 1-week consecutive administration. Therefore, PCT had sedative effect in single dose but stimulative effect in 1-week consecutive administration. In 1-week consecutive administration of PCT, it not only prolonged the swimming time of mice but also increased the food-intake of rats. Otherwise, it improved the impairment of learning and memory induced by scopolamine. PCT produced by drying or vacuum drying method was better than oven drying method method on sedation. After coating with guar gum or locust bean gum, the effect of PCT on hexobarbital-induced sleeping time was still not changed. MT Hsieh; HY Tsay; GS Jang 謝明村;蔡輝彥;張光雄 1994 學位論文 ; thesis 58 zh-TW
