Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 管理科學研究所 === 81 === The Darwinian theory that origin of species is derived by descent, with variation, from parent form, through the natural selection of those best adapted to survive in struggle for exi- stence can be well adapted to the management of an enterprise. If one enterprise could not match the demands of the changes its environments, then, this enterprise can only be eliminated. Therefore, how to investigate thoroughly into the environmental characteristics facing by one enterprise in order to make proper suggestions to help enterprise to adopt suitable manage- ment strategy to improve management performance or look for better survival niche becomes very important. This research applies Duncan''s complexity, dynamism two indexes, divives the environmental characteristics into four types: siple- stable, siple-dynamic, complex-stable, and complex -dynamic. The enterprise stratergies is also devided into four categories:retrenchment strategy, stability strategy, expansion strategy, and combination strategy. The performance measurement index is rated in accordance with the management ability, the goal achievement rate, the profit / net worth ratio and sales growth rate. The conclusions are: 1. The environmental characterisics affect the performance directly. No matter the complexity or dynamism indexes, they all influence more or less on the per- formance, especially the dynamism index. Their linear corre- lation are positive. 2. The environment influences the adoption of strategy significantly. Both the complexity and dynamism im- pact the adoption of strategy. 3. Different strategy will not affect performance if not to consider the variable of the envi- ronment itself. 4. Only under simple-dynamic enviromnent the adoption of strategy is relative to performance.
