The research method of this thesis is to identify the mechanisms of the societies of Mainland China and Taiwan by analysing housing questions and policies on the politi- cal-economic context which is a particular historic back- ground for the macroscope. The author intends to select the recent housing nity productions which represent the cases with experimen- tal intentions of bilateral societies beside the Strait of Taiwan--Chuan Fu New Village of Tianjin,Mainland China,and Utopia Community of Taichung,Taiwan-- to be an empirical- compared case study for the microscope.Then the research discusses the discrepant political systems、social- economic conditions for the housing policies of Mainland China and Taiwan,and points out the applied discrepancies of urban planning ideos、techniques in developing housing communi- ties by a series of planning literatures. With the analyzed above ,the conclusion indicates tical and economic issues derived from the discrepancies between Mainland China and Taiwan in the development、 management of housing community.Those issues are expli- cated by two directions:"compatibility"and"competition". Finally,it locates some available approaches in the deve- lopment of housing community for the government、planners、 developers and social workers.
