碩士 === 東吳大學 === 管理科學研究所 === 81 === Using 13 engineering consulting firms in Taiwan as samples, this empirical research adapts the Bakos and Treacy's model to study the impact and potential linkage of information technology (IT) and competitive advantage. IT is assumed to contribute to the firm's competitive advantage through five sources; optimal design and trade-off, unique establish the IT listing and validate the definition and model. In the second stage survey, the perception of the IT impact, the actual implementation results, the relative importance of the five sources of competi- tive advantage, and the characteristics of the firm, are solicited from information executive, functional executive and project executive. Mean and standard deviation were used to examine the initial data. Correlation and analysis of variance techniques were used to analyze the similarity and difference of perceptions among different type of executives, or different characteristics of the firms. Factor analysis then was applied to locate the commonalty and reduce the dimension of IT for further investigation. AHP formulation is adapted to model the impacts of IT on the overall competitive advantage. And, finally , we used regression to study the possible linkages between between IT application and competitive performance.
