Two major tunneling method including drill & blast (D&B) as well as tunnel boring machine (TBM) are evaluated. Analytical results show that the cost per unit length for TBM is much higher than D&B method. However, the total costrction time required for D&B mehtod is much longer than TBM method unless multiple work faces could. Both mehtods are very sensitive to uncertain geological condtions .
