by using an electronic switch in parallel with a capacitor for
a single phase induction motor.the capacitor is shorted during
each cycle to vary the effective value of the ac capacitor.By
this method,a good performance can be obtined using only one
capacitor for both starting and running condition.Two new
optimization algorithms to obtain maximum starting torque by
adjusting the effective capacitance during starting is prposed.
No running capacitor or centrifugal switch is used here. A
similar performance of starting of the induction motor can be
obtained when compared with the conventional method of using
two capacitors,A theoretical analysis,simulation and
experimental results are presented in this thesis.
