Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 生理學研究所 === 81 === The purpose of this study was to observe the ovarian proges- terone (P4) production during the hamster estrous cycle by 24h in vitro incubation,then to determine whether the deciduoma tissue secretes a substance which can sustain P4 secretion on cyclic day 2 ovaries. Ovaries collected in the moring of D2,D3 and D4,showed minimal amount of P4 production. Ovarian P4 production started to increase after 14:00 on D4. Maximal ovarian P4 production was ob- served at 19:00 on D4. The P4 concentration reached maximum at 2h of incubation and remained elevated throughout the incubation. Ovaries collected on the morning of D1 still high capacity of P4 production. However the P4 concentration decrease after 2h. Fur- ther incubation didn't sustain P4 concentration. By 24h it was almost back to the initial level, the ovarian capacity of P4 pro- ductiion decreased with time on D1.The effect of decidual cells ( PS.8) on ovarian P4 production by co-culture showed the P4 amount increased at 0.5h of incubation and reached max. at 2h of incuba- tion, and remained plateau level throughout the incubation. There was a drastic increase at 24h after incubation.The P4 production of D2 ovaries with decidual cells at mesometrial site (MS) and antimesometrial site(AMS) were separately studied.Ovarian P4 pro- duction in AMS and MS started to increase 4h of incubation.There was no signiicant difference P4 secretion between AMS and MS, but ovarian P4 amount in the AMS was higher than that of the MS at 24 h after incubation. Serum P4 concentration increased with time on D1 and reached peack values on D2 before dropping on D3.The serum P4 on the moring of D4 and critical period(12:00 on D4) was main- tained at levels similar to D3. There was a drastic increase in serum P4 at 19:00 on D4. The finding suggest that ovarian P4 pro- duction capacity start to regress on D2,and deciduomal tissue may produced hormone which can affect ovarian P4 production that mechanism may be different response at the
