for postwar grade school physical education, detailed record
are lacking.So it is a worthy research effort to learn how
normal schools cultivated teachers for grade school physical
education, and what the purposes,substance and methods were.
Besides gathering documents and conducting interviews as
accompanying efforts, the present writer classified and
sorted the materials acccording to the three major sources of
teachers of grade school physical education, and then
recounted the historical development and subjected it to
analytical examination in the order of the chapters. The
following results have learned from this research: 1.The
overall environment had gradually stabilized during this
period. 2.The three sources of teachers for grade school
physical education differed in the setting of their goals.
3.The substance of training in physical education normal
school was most in kepping with the reality of grade school
physical education;that of physical education departments
ranked second ,and physical education qualifying examinations
were more criticized. 4.Grade school physical
educationteachers were still insuffi- cient,but in practical
training and actual teaching,the picture took on a motley
aspect.This ran counter to the purpose of cultivation of talent
by the State.
