Seventy- two healthy male teenagers (age 14.8±1.7; height 166.7±7.4; weight 59±11.1;VO2max 51.1±7.7), without any heart problem previously , volunteered to participate in this study. VO2max was obtained directly by maximal exertion tredmill test (bruce protocol). Subjects were performed maximal oxygen uptake test and three different-load step tests (step height 30cm ; 35cm ; 40cm); step frequency was set at 112 beats/ minute. The post-exercise heart rate was counted and recorded at 5s-20s;30s-60s; 90s-120s; 150s- 180s respectively. The exercise-load was determined as follow: Exercise Load= Step Height × Step Frequency The results revealed that : 1). The post-exercise heart rate of three different-load step tests have significant negtive correlation to VO2max. 2). The fitness index of three different-load of step tests have significant positive correlation to VO2max. 3). Leg length effects the fitness index significantly. In view of these findings; it could be said that 30s-60s post-exercise heart rate of three minutes step test is valid in assessing young boys'' aerobic capacity .
