Summary:碩士 === 國立體育學院 === 運動科學研究所 === 81 === The pupose of this study was to investigate the effect of ginseng(Panax Ginseng C. A. Meyer) on physiogical function and physical performance. Fourteen health college students with medium exercise level were used as the subjects in this study. these subjects divided randomly into two groups, namely experimental group and control group. Subjects in the experimental group were given 6 g/ day Ginseng while subjects in the control group were given placebo. After one week and two weeks treatment, all subjects''blood pressure, all-out exertion time, VO2 peak, heart rate, blood lactate, white blood cell counts, red blood cell counts, hematocrit, glucose, cholesterol were measured in order to elicit the physiological effects of Ginseng. All the tests were carried on in double-blind manner. The results of this study revealed: 1. All-out exertion time, VO2 peak, heart rate, glucose, cholesterol and hematologic showed no sinnificant difference between two groups and within each group after one week and two weeks of treatment. 2.Lactate measured at 12 minutes post-exercise where in the experimental group had significantly lower values than the control group after one week of treatment (p<.05). 3.The heart rate, it was found that the experimental group values significantly decreased after 15 minutes of exercise (p<.05) when compared to the control group.
