The motion analysis system and two force-plate were used to collect the trajectories of the body movement and ground reaction forces of two feet, while the subjects rose from the chairs with four chair heights, 65\%, 80\%, 100\%and 115\% of the knee height. By kinematic and kinetic analysis, the Euler angles and net muscle moments of each joint were calculated for further clinical interpretation. The result indicated that the maximum moments of the three joint soccurred nearly the beginning of extension phase. As the chair height increased, the maximum flexion angles at the hip, knee, and ankle joints significantly decreased. The chair height had great influence on knee joint moment, but less on ankle and hip joints. There were consistent right-to-left asymetry present during rising from all chair height. All the subjects are right hand dominants, and the result showed the joint moments and angles of right leg were sigificantly greater than those of left leg. The range of motion of patients was quite larger than normals. The magnitude of moments highly depended on personal condition. The result of this experiment could be considered as design criteria of prosthetic devices for the lower extremity and could give some suggestion to patients with patholagic conditions of lower limbs.
