In that , the problems caused by fuel-derived deposits in the engines paly an important role in deciding engine performance.The purpose of this text is to develope a laboratry researching equipment , then simulating the formation of fuel-derived deposits . By replacing the wall of engine with the surface of aluminum coupon , we aim our study on 95 unleaded gasoline and analyze the foramtion mechanism of deposit on aluminum coupon , surface temprature of the metal, the fluxing of the gasoline , and the effect of different combination of gasoline and additive in causing the formation of the deposits. The results measured by mass-gain and SEM methods are AS follows: 1. The higher the surface tempture of the aluminum, the more weight of the surface deposition. Comapring by the SEM pictures , we find that the quantity of deposit granule at higher tempture is more than that of lower tempture ; while the mean diameters are roughly the same. 2. The longer the testing time,the more foramtion of the deposition is on the aluminum surface.But when it is longer than 32 hours,the deposition will not continue to increase and will approach to a steady value. 3. The concentration of the additive has a great influence on the deposition. The higher the conc- entration of DH and DN additives in the gasoline, the better cleaning condition is in it . To the contrary , the higher concentration of the HH additive, the more formation of the deposit. 4. Referring to the tempture, the NH additives has a better cleaning capacity at low tempture. At high tempture , the weight of the deposit increases apparently. While the changing in the tempture has little influence on the DH and HH additives.
