The provisions of Section 11.12 in ACI Building Code are entirely based on test of low-strength concrete slabs. Therefore, it becomes necessary to examine the applicability of current ACI Code when applied to high-strength concrete slabs.
In this study, thirty specimens were tested. Variables included were the concrete strength, the aspect ratio and the reinforcement ratio. Based on test results in this study and results predsented in previous studies, the deign equations which can more reasonably predict the punching shear strength of reinforced concrete slabs are proposed in this study.
