A Cup-Bar combined extrusion, which is characterized with metal flow in tow opposite directions, is often used to manufature precision mechanical components. In this thesis, an Upper-Bound Approach is adopted to estimate the extrusion load of the steady state under different area-reduction with consideration of the effect of friction.
The ring compresion test, gridding technique, extrusion experiments are carried out in A1-1100 to evalute the reliability of the proposed theoretical analysis.
