For efficient hydraulic design, the shapes of many basic hydraulic elements and circuits were developed and stored in a library in advance. The system also provides the essential calculation for hydraulic circuits. The results can be used as a basis for selecting hydraulic elements in the design process. Through the interactive conversation with the computer via a graphic termical, the user can build and modify a circuit more quickly. The system provide a command menu on the screen, which gives the status of the environment and the commands. The user can pick up elementary components and circuits for building a hydraulic element or complex circuits promptly. A new pipe connection command can assembly the system quickly. The prompt response, data backup capability and command error tolerance provide a good design environment for the users. This software also allows the users to create new elements in order to complement the basic elements and circuits library. It is a common practice in hydraulic circuit design to break a complex circuit into several simple circuits. The data were acquired through the interaction with a user from a monitor. The program gave the results in tabular form for easy reference.
