Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 建築研究所 === 75 === This thesis proposes to investigate the evolution of dwelling space in Taiwan from 1945 to date. By analyzing the influence of historical events and social changes upon people''s life styles, the writer tries to find out how dwelling design has developed and why it has not always satisfied the users'' need. He also offers some suggestions towards a better programaed dwelling design for the future. The contents of the thesis is described in six parts:
Part 1 Introduction
Part 2 Historical Evolution: A brief description of historical developments before 1945, and a more detailed description after the restitution in 1945.
Part 3 Typological Analysis: Using the method of induction analysis, the space characteristics, of apartment building, shop/house and detached residence are looked into.
part 4 Practical Investigation: investigation on the design of the various elements of dwelling space and where it failed to Beet different users'' needs.
Part 5 Improvement Proposal: Stressing the importance of certain traditional needs as well as practical provisions, the writer suggests a more flexible dwelling program to suit different needs.
Part 6 Conclusion: A summary of insights gained by the investigation, and suggestions for future development.
