The occurence of boundary-layer separation has deep influence in design, For example, airfoil surface separation induces large drag, separation on tubes of heat exchanger lowers the efficiency of heat exchanger, etc.
In this thesis, we transform continuity, momentum and energy equtions by Mangler-Levy-Lees transformation and use Cebeci-Smith box method to develop a program that can predict laminar and turbulent boundary-layer separation point. We only specify flow field by potential flow theory then can predict separation point accurately.
In order to prove accuracy of this program, we compare numerical results with experimemtal and other numerical results, besides applying this program to the calculation of multi-element airfoil section and tube bank. The results can use as referance in design of engineering practice.
