碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築研究所 === 72 === In the energy impact the fact that urban is in the urgent need of reestablishing the relationship between traffic & urban land uses raises the motive of this study. To construct a new urban structure for saving energy problem is the main purpose of the thesis. Firstly, we examine briefly the tract of urban development & conclude that zoning has reached dead road but mixed-use & self-contained community brightens the way. Continuously the paper is traced the history & theory of self-contained community for seeking out the new basis & magnifience in modern urbanized society. More over, we compare the methods of urban design between historical theory & new emergying one. Time dimension, mutil-use of height & overlap of activity space are 3 principles of new theory we crystallize. The last 3 chapters, presenting 3 prorotypies of the commuity, analyse profoundly the inferior struture of the future urban system. Another trial is focused to created the design-atom of each type in order that professional men may approach & skeletonize the design of urban environment quickly. The complex building,complex building groups & block unit are physical forms of the community.
