The terrain and forest conditions of virgin forest are quite different from that of artificial forest. The logging methods of virgin forest are not necessarily suitable for artifical forest. Therefore, it is necessary to do research in the logging mechanizations of artificial forest in Taiwan. For the purpose of finding the advantages of mechanized felling operation. This study is designed to compare working efficiency among the various tools and to analyze their operation cost on felling and bucking. After careful analysis and discussion, conculsions can be summarized as follows: 1.Better work efficiency was attained in felling the large DBH trees by using higher power chainsaw. The relative efficiency of the small type chainsaw was higher than that of the large ones (chainsaw) in felling the small size trees, for instance, the use of echo cs-302 chainsaw with 3-houspower was better than that of stihl 041 chainsaw with 5-housepower in felling under the DBH of 18 cm (as shown in fig. 7). 2.The branching (limbing) operation: There was no significant difference between the mechanization and manual operation, because it is inconvient to hold the chainsaw through the branches during working. 3.The crosscutting operation: There was a direct relationship between the size of DBH and operation time of different power tools. The tests revealed the following: under the crosscutting diameter of 25 cm, the working efficiency among the stihi 041 chainsaw, echo cs-302 chainsaw and manual was 6.63: 5.91: 1.00. From this result, mechanized operation was far better than manual operation. The size of DBH with various power type chainsaw would influence the working whether it was difficult or not. When the DBH was 10 cm, the working efficiency ratio between the stihl 041 chainsaw and echo cs-302 chainsaw was 0.16: 1.00, but when the DBH was 40 cm, the ratio between them was 1.84L 1.00. The experimental results indicated that the productive operation, such as felling and bucking, took approxmately 50% of the total time. This means, that half of the total time was spent in nonproductive operations. Such as equipment reparing & obstacle clearing etc. So, when we caculate the daily output, we must take these nonproductive factors into consideration. At the average DBH of felling trees was 24.9 cm, the daily output of the felling and bucking by the stihl 041 chainsaw, echo cs-302 chainsaw and manual operation was 19.86 m3, 15.68 m3 and 7.89 m3 repectively and the corresponding operation cost of each was NT$32.03/m3, NT$33.06/m3 and NT$37.81/m3. The felling and bucking working efficiency ratio of mechanization operation to that of manual operation was about 3 to 1, but there was no significent difference between mechanization ooperation and manual operation in terms of unit operation cost. So, from the viewpoint of economics mechanization operation should be applied to large amount of work. Wu, Shuen-Chao 吳順昭 1977 學位論文 ; thesis 74 zh-TW |

碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 森林學研究所 === 65 === The virgin forest will be replaced gradually by artifical forest for timber production in Taiwan. Therefore, it is necessary to do research in the logging mechanizations of artificial forest in Taiwan. For the purpose of finding the advantages of mechanized felling operation. This study is designed to compare working efficiency among the various tools and to analyze their operation cost on felling and bucking.
After careful analysis and discussion, conculsions can be summarized as follows:

2.The branching (limbing) operation:
There was no significant difference between the mechanization and manual operation, because it is inconvient to hold the chainsaw through the branches during working.
3.The crosscutting operation:
There was a direct relationship between the size of DBH and operation time of different power tools.
