Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 畜牧學系 === 65 ===   Three Taiwan native bucks were used in this experiment, which began in April of 1976. and endod in April of 1977. Each buck''s semen was collected once weekly with the artificial vagina. Rosolting in a total of 157 samples of semen collected during this one-year expermental period. The items of semen characteristics estimated in this experiment were volume of ejaculated semen pH value, sperm motility, porcent of dead sperms, sperm concentration, totol sperms and percent of abnormal sperms. The data for each of these characteristics has been analyzed and summarized as follows:   (Ⅰ)Semen characteristics of native bucks:     1. volume of semenrange: 0.05-1.20c.c. average: 0.46±0.19c.c.     2.pH value-range: 5.8-6.8. average: 6.4±0.1.     3.Sperm motilityRange: 0-5 score, average: 3.3±0.6 score.     4.Percent of dead spermsrange: 4.2-81.3%. average:16.9±8.7%.     5.Sperm concentrationrange:1.02-4.52(x109/c.c.), average:2.60±0.60(x109/c.c.).     6.Total spermsrange:0.072-3.372(x109).average:1.264±0.657(x109).     7.Percent of abnormal spermsrange:0.3-33.3%average:3.8±1.3%.   (Ⅱ)The correlation coefficicnt between monthly average volume of ojaculato and its body weight was highly significant (p<0.01), but using covariance analysis for this data. the volume of ejaculate was found to have no seasonal change.The monthly average data of the other characteristics completed by anal-ysis of variance of factorial design, showed that the total sperms had a seasonal change only (p<0.05). The total sperms in spring (Febury, March and April), fall (August, September and october), and winter (November,December and January) were more than in summer(May, June and July); the difference of sperm concentration and the total sperms within bucks were highly significant(p<0.05).   (Ⅲ)The correlation coefficients between volume and pll value, and sperm motility, and sperm concen-tration, and total sporms were-0.469, 0.229,0.347and0.335respectively, which were highly significant (p<0.01).The correlation coefficients between sperm motility and porcent of dead wperms and sporm concentration, and total fperms were -0.526, 0.401, and 0.347respectively all of them also were highly significant(p<0.01).   Among the oxamining items of semen charcteris-tics, two f them such as sperm concontration and total sperms might be available for selecting Taiwan young native bucks in the future.
