Summary: | <p> This dissertation presented a transcription for modern-day wind ensemble of Suite I from <i>Banchetto Musicale</i> (1617) by Johann Hermann Schein. Included is: a brief history of the use of transcriptions in the wind ensemble literature; a discussion about the purpose of transcriptions in the wind ensemble repertoire; a brief biography of Johann Hermann Schein, establishing his position in music history; a description of the importance of the <i> Banchetto Musicale</i> in the history of music; and an analysis of Suite I describing how the variation principle is applied, with transcription and conducting considerations, for the Padouana, Gagliarda, Courente, Allemande, and Tripla.</p><p>
