Theology Marriage Sacraments Theology Christology This thesis explores the Catholic perspective of marital mutuality in order to gain a deeper appreciation for its necessity as a definitive characteristic of contemporary marital sacramentality. As a symbol, marriage is meant to provide a specific context in which human persons attain greater recognition of their own identities in relation to God through their love for each other. Grounded in that sacramental perspective, this thesis focuses on the deep connection between Christology and anthropology, and the ways in which that link forms the Christian understanding of how men and women image God. Moreover, it will demonstrate how certain Christological interpretations can support equality and mutuality within marriage.
