Architecture Architecture Memory Berlin The connection between memory and structure has been examined countless times in a staggering amount of built spaces. However, despite the near ubiquity of memorials in modern cities, the typography of memorial lacks a fundamental connection to the everyday nature of cities and the lives of their inhabitants. A new form of memorial is needed. This thesis examines the philosophical understandings of group memory as related to memorial design and theory. The classification of memory is used as a backdrop to explore the shortcomings of memorialization within architectural design.
