The Euler equations for inviscid flow formulated along the streamlines are reduced to two sets of first and second order ordinary differential equations .These equations can be solved by the direct matrix inversion technique or iterative methods on truncated domains. The boundary conditions are imposed at the blade passage exit by specifying the streamline locations which leads to the automatic satisfaction of the Kutta condition and also predicts the exit flow angles. These features lead to significant reduction in the computation time. In addition to this, this approach also eliminates the use of two and three dimensional grids. This technique is equally applicable for the direct and inverse design problems. Numerical results are obtained for flow in two dimensional cascades and are validated with numerical solutions using the fluent code. 2011-09-20 English text University of Cincinnati / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=ucin1304022216 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=ucin1304022216 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
