Architecture Knowledge Creation Knowledge Office Building Despite the ever-increasing reliance of knowledge-based work, workplace design is still an exercise of information processing efficiency more than it is a place to nurture the creation of knowledge. Office design resolves itself to a formal organizational structure of space defined by an associated objective work task, ignoring the important aspect of subjective dialectic interaction among organization members and between organization members and the environment, critical to the process of knowledge creation. Knowledge is created in a repetitive four step process of exchanging tacit and explicit knowledge that results in a continuous spiral ascending successive ontological levels of understanding. The concept of Ba attempts to define the context in which each of these unique knowledge exchanges occur.
