Computer Science parallell computing This thesis describes the efforts of implementing a hybrid-parallel computational model in an existing program. The program is designed for simulating strongly-correlated systems, such as semiconductors. Different methods of distributing the program's various arrays are examined and rejected due to disappointing performance. The hybrid-parallel model promises to improve the maximum problem size as well as enable shorter run times. This thesis demonstrates that much larger problems sizes are possible by more effectively distributing the work across multiple nodes in the distributed computer.
