It finds that the denial campaign conducted by the Tobacco Industry was not successful in creating uncertainty about tobacco science among the public, however, the climate change denial campaign has been successful in influencing public perception on the accuracy of climate science. By understanding the role of public perception of the risk of personal harm, this paper identifies how particular denial campaigns are successful in polarizing of public opinion on scientific evidence. 2018-10-05 English text Ohio University Art and Sciences Honors Theses / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=ouashonors1528314554965568 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=ouashonors1528314554965568 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
