ndltd-OhioLink-oai-etd.ohiolink.edu-osu15871308444451632021-08-03T07:14:29Z Echotract: Poems Brown, Margaret Literature The poems in this Echotract circle and center the concept of “echo” as both the act of and resulting artifact from distant sound, in addition to the concept of “tract” as, all at once, a system of the body, an area of land, and a religiously-inflected piece of writing. It is a manuscript written in and through the rhythm and practice of walking and it is a collection written in and through the rhythm and practice of music, and many of its speakers reflect such practices in the poems’ subject matter and their points of view. The above influences and crafting of sound, particularly as reflected through music-making, also join lenses of ecological and theological focus, that of a distinctly Midwestern landscape and through a deeply ambivalent searching enacted chiefly via the appropriation of Catholic prayer forms and language, respectively.
