Education National assessment statistics demonstrate the difficulty in providing an excellent educational experience for low-income students. This paper is a reflection on some of the early challenges beginning teachers faced as they sought to do just that. While every educational and instructional journey is unique, many new teachers faced common struggles in cultivating a productive cultural atmosphere and content-rich environment in their classrooms.
