New bands appear upon complexation with the inhibitors (ligands). The data are interpreted in the context of changes in the inhibitor structure upon binding, along with changes in the protein conformation in the presence of the ligand. Difference spectra between complexes revealed that the inhibitor that includes all four chemical moieties results in more changes in the protein conformation relative to the other three ligands. Another important finding is that the protein conformational changes due to the presence of the pyridine or isopropyl group are not simply additive.
