The reason for this study is that many students attribute importance to religious and/or spiritual quests. The study is a qualitative reflexive case study of three institutions that employ higher education chaplains. The goal of the study is to better understand the role the chaplain plays in a student’s undergraduate experience. The lived experience of the chaplain is examined through a phenomenological lens of care within the current postsecular moment.
