Through relentless promotion of SMU athletics and the revolutionary use of corporate sponsorships to support the massively scaled campaign, Mustang Mania yielded remarkable results in terms of attendance, media coverage, and fundraising for the athletics department.The following study examines the campaign primarily through print articles and advertisements appearing in The Dallas Morning News from January 1, 1977, to December 31, 1981.
